Celebrating 10 years of Black Nova Designs

After more than a year of planning, earlier this month the big night was finally here. On Saturday the 18th of October, we gathered at the National Self Build and Renovation Centre in West Swindon with 75 of our friends, clients and supporters to celebrate a truly special milestone: ten amazing years of Black Nova Designs. It was a dress-to-impress evening, and we couldn’t wait to see everyone get glammed up for the occasion!

We were looking forward to the party, but the celebration was also a chance to pause, reflect, and soak it all in. A decade of growth and taking what started as a dream for Kyle to build a business around his passion for technology that became a reality when Danielle joined him on the journey. A side hustle quickly grew into a full-time role for each of them, and today, Black Nova employs a talented team, runs a bustling office and supports thousands of clients across the UK and beyond.

As Danielle explained,

“Ten years ago, what started as Kyle’s dream to build something different in the world of IT has grown into our shared mission: to help people, challenge the norm and build a community that truly cares. It’s no secret that my tech knowledge wasn’t quite on Kyle’s level when we started (and let’s be honest, it still isn’t), but I’ve learned so much along the way. These days, I can mostly hold my own in a tech conversation and that’s saying something! From the early days of figuring things out to now running a business that’s supported by an incredible team and community, I’m beyond proud of what we’ve built together.”

A night to remember

The atmosphere at our birthday bash was brilliant! The venue was filled with laughter and people sharing stories of how they met us and plenty of memories from the past decade. Our guests enjoyed food, drinks and conversation before settling in for an inspiring talk from motivational speaker Jamie McAnsh, whose message about resilience, friendship and finding your ‘why’ struck a chord with everyone in the room.

Jamie shared his own powerful story and spoke passionately about the work of Best Mates, a Wiltshire-based charity that provides support to people going through difficult times – whether that’s depression, grief, job loss, relationship struggles or anything else life throws their way. The charity recruits volunteers, known as “Mates,” who have each faced their own challenges and found a way forward. When someone reaches out for help, they’re connected with a Mate who understands what they’re going through, listens without judgement, and offers guidance based on their own lived experience. It’s a simple but incredibly powerful idea: people helping people.

Reflecting on the evening, Kyle shared:

“Standing in a room filled with friends, clients, and supporters who’ve been part of our journey over the past decade was nothing short of overwhelming. I felt immense pride, not just in what we’ve built at Black Nova Designs, but also in the community that’s grown around it. Seeing so many people come together to celebrate and raise money for Best Mates was deeply emotional. I’m profoundly grateful to everyone who showed up, supported us and helped make the night unforgettable. It reminded me that success isn’t just measured in business milestones, but in the relationships and impact we create along the way.”

Raising money for a worthy cause

Our guests dug deep to support Best Mates through raffle entries and donations, helping to raise just over £700 for the charity. The funds will go toward connecting more people with the support they need at some of the toughest moments in life, something that resonated deeply with everyone who attended.

Looking back and looking ahead

Reflecting on the evening and the amazing memories made, we can’t help but think back on what the past ten years have meant. Building this business has taken so much hard work, long hours, and more than a little blood, sweat and tears… but it’s also brought endless rewards: incredible clients, lasting friendships and a sense of pride in what we’ve achieved.
